Using light to observe and understand physiological processes

Meet Our Newest Team Member: Lalida!

My project is 'Advanced Imaging and Artificial Intelligence to Understand Lymphoedema Development After Cancer Treatment.' It aims to understand lymphoedema development after cancer treatment by performing optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging and clinical indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence lymphography studies on healthy volunteers. The analysis of imaging data will then be used to identify the lymphatic capillaries and pre-collecting vessels at multiple sites on the upper limb and characterise lymph flow dynamics in the subcutaneous regions. Furthermore, I need to develop an imaging atlas of dermal backflow and machine learning models of lymphoedema severity using an ICG fluorescence lymphography database. Lastly, in a dynamic environment, I will simulate lymphoedema development using our team's computational fluid dynamic model (structural and functional data from volunteer imaging studies) and compare the results with the aforementioned machine learning models.

If there is something you need more information on, please let me know.
